![]() The vintage style light bulbs seen today are reproductions of the hand-wound filament bulbs, made popular by the Edison Electric Light Company in the early 1900's. Today's Edison bulbs come in several shapes and sizes, the most common being the Victorian A19, Radio bulbs, Globes, Tube T bulbs, and Edison shaped ST bulbs. Filament StylesEarly filaments were carbon based and did not emit much light, requiring that they be quite long. This led to the intricate shapes of filaments, which were wrapped around supports inside the glass. Today's filaments are made from the much more conductive and durable Tungsten.
